Next, 2Dcrytion...we believed our idea till the end, yet we lost to 7, at least, teams. Reasons of losing, 'Our technology used is not fanciful enough. So, remember, in the future, if anyone you know is going to join Sun- Open Jive,
1. Use Fanciful technology.
2. Prototype, make one that is view-able, don't need to be the real thing.
3. When asked, 'Do you have a working prototype?' you CAN answer, 'Well, due to TIME constraint and NO available technology, we DON'T have a prototype.'.
4. Make sure you have colourful PowerPoint Slides to aid you in your presentation.
5. To win the Open Jive, you need at least 3 'Attension get-ters' in your presentation. Eg. 'May i ask (question), 'Next, we shall present a role play', Joke (be sure others laugh, don't laugh yourself)
Next thing to talk about, school. very, a...Bitter? after the competition, the 3 of us are almost broken down, yet, our extension to submission was only extended by...2 days. and, all 3 seperate teams we are in, aren't Programmingly Strong. so, our programming stress continues. luckily, all 3 of our teams done pretty well, they got their teamwork together (Except for one guy). not mentioning the name.
Tourism Informatics, was completed on Tuesday. 23/06. Although i made two last minute meetings, we did well. C173 MIA master aka best programmer in class, cooperated with me. the presentation was, i would say, not bad. at least we say our stuffs, get things done, Dr.Yap wasn't too angry about us or anything. cool. VoIPSA, i didn't get my written test paper back, but, o well, who cares, as long as i know, i pass. (No one told me anything), but all i need to know is that i pass the subject. And so, Year 3, the Two Electives, are completed. (should be)...
Well, as many people haven't complete their Tourism Informatics and M-Commerce presentation, i shall put tips on the two Presentation below. Based on what i know...
For Tourism Informatics.
-Dr.Yap.
--What is your target resolution? (Pixels of screen for mobile phone)
--What hardware and software will you be using? (If not covered in your presentation)
--How long do you need to develop the whole system? (If not covered)
--What Considerations have you think about when designing the application.
--What is the cost of your project?
--How do you come out with the cost of your project? (Meaning, what you spent th money on)
--Can your application run on different mobile platforms? Why it can run?
---Mobile Platform, 'Windows Mobile', 'Symbian', or maybe 'Nokia phones', 'sony ericsson phones'
-Simon (if he is around, be extremely careful.)***
--What is your best feature in your application? (Most important, choose only 1)
--What i your least important feature? (In another words, which feature may not be used by the users)
--(If there is payment) i will be sending my credit card number 'through the air'. how you ensure security?
*Well, simon's brain power is pretty high. so, he can come out with more types of questions than above. when i present, he wasn't around, so, this is the most i can provide. and lastly for simon
--Rule Number 1. Simon is always right.
--Don't argue with Simon. refer to rule number 1. or you will suffer
-Dr. Yap's friend. (Not sure what is the name, SORRY!!)
--People can now use PC or notebook to book Flight, restaurants. why MUST i use your Application? (Well, standard answer is 'Mobile Phone can let you book anytime anywhere')
--Any customers tested your application and felt that it is good to use? (Killer! testing point is how you react to it. how you behave yourself, how you answer)
--(I got this question) Can the tourist continue using your application after they return to their country?
---(Con't) How do you ensure they uninstall the application? -If they continue using the application, your server, one day, will not be able to handle the amount of user.
-Most questions are depending on what you presented or not presented, so, questions above may not help you. Unless you pick up the plan that of 'Not presenting above, let them ask, and answer the questions easily'.
M-Commerce. I didn't see other people's presentation, so i can't really help much here.
-Mr Tok.
--What is your killer feature?
--*Anything you wrote in your report. User Infrastructure (Mobile Phone), Network Infrastructure (Wi-Fi,, GPRS), MiddleWare(WAP, Oracle 9i Application Server)
--(If your idea is Mobile Application) Where do i get this Application from? download?
--How do you market your product? Business Case (This, i don't know what exactly he looking for)
--*He will be looking for, how you use your limited time to present, how you present (Can you tell the teachers your idea, how clearly)
--Coding Part, (from my experience) Mr Tok will ask, "Show me one part of the coding that is done by you. Explain to me line by line what you have done."
--Or, he can say 'Wow, i find this line of code, interesting. (Point to you that line) explain what have you written.
For ms.Ho. i am totally not sure what she will ask. just make sure the logic of your presentation is right. all i can say...End.
End.
